LM3
a sustainable procurement tool

Calculating your economic contribution to your community is easier and more accurate than ever

Across the world, organizations face the same challenge - deliver more for less. This need for economic efficiency has only been heightened by the recent global economic downturn. Now there is a tool that enables any organization not only to measure and communicate the importance of its operations to the local economy but also to improve the local economy using the same or less money.

LM3 stands for Local Multiplier 3
The name represents how the tool works

Local LM3 looks at a specific local economy or set of local economies. This stands in contrast to traditional multiplier analysis, which looks at larger areas, such as whole nations.

Multiplier The multiplier is an economics concept used to denote how much a specific inflow of income into an area then circulates (or multiplies) in that area.

3 LM3 looks at three rounds of spending -- the original inflow, how that inflow is spent, and how that money is re-spent.

  • Your specific organization, not a hypothetical model
  • Current impact, not figures from years in the past
  • Any geographic level, from Country to County to Post Code

LM3 Online ™ also enables engagement with suppliers, to demonstrate commitment to local and diverse purchasing, and to highlight opportunities for future improvement.

LM3 Online ™ puts the process and the results in your control, so you can explain your results, access them at any time, and replicate the process on a periodic basis.

Recognized in the United Kingdom as best practice in promoting sustainable development. The tool was created by K2a in association with the New Economic Foundation and it offered through the Carbon Free Group.
